NCGA Zone Qualifier and 2nd King of the Mountain Tournament, May 6
We've crowned the group that will go to Monterey in August to vie for the NCGA South Sierra Zone Championship. Finishing in first place to earn their spot was Mark Lee & Steve Dringenberg, who shot a better ball score of net 58, 12-under par! Coming in second place, claiming the remaining two slots to Monterey, were Bill Sowders & Chris Mateo, with a better ball score of net 60, 10-under par. These four will go on to compete in Monterey at Poppy Hills and Carmel Valley Ranch golf courses. Congratulations to the winners!
In the second King of the Mountain Tournament (which was run concurrent with the Zone Qualifier), Jim Cumbra, Jr. was the big winner, taking 1st place with a 5-under par net 65. Second was Mark Lee with a 3-under par, net 67. And tied for third place was Ron Baker and Chris Mateo at 2-under par, net 68. Click here for more information on the current KOM standings.
Three Blind Mice Tournament, April 21
The first Club tournament of the year was rousing success, with 21 golfers enjoying the warm weather and some refreshments in the Grille after the round. The format was simple, 3-person teams with a random selection of either 1, 2, or 3 net scores to be taken on each hole. The hands-down winners were the team of Bev Edwards, Gary Logan, & Jerry Marshall with a net score of 20-under par. Gary shot an outstanding gross score of 71! Second place was taken by the team of Bud Collins, Dennis Ringnes & Dan Russell with a net score of 14-under par. Dan carded a net 64 with three birdies! And finishing in third place was the team of Steve Dringenberg, Mike Hayworth & Mark Lee with a net score of 11-under par. Mike came in with an outstanding net 64! Congratulations to all the winners.
